Requirements for Women's Studies Undergraduate Certificate



Students must take a minimum of eight courses (32 credit hours). At least four of these courses must be in addition to those counted toward the student’s other degree programs, whether these are majors or minors. No more than two courses may be taken at the 100 level and at least four courses must be taken at the 300 level or above.

Four courses are required:

  • WOMN 100. Introduction to Women’s Studies
  • WOMN 311. Topics in Women of Color/Third World Feminisms or
  • WOMN 411. Advanced Topics in Women of Color/Third World Feminism
  • WOMN 312. Topics in Gender and Colonialisms or
  • WOMN 412. Advanced Topics in Gender and Colonialisms
  • a 400-level seminar, independent study or internship.

Students must receive a minimum C grade in order for a course to fulfill requirements for the certificate, and no courses taken under the Pass/Fail option may be credited toward the certificate.
